Role Overview Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to design and deliver scalable, cloud-native backend solutions. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can lead technical initiatives, build distributed systems, and contribute to modern event-driven architectures. In this role, you will: - Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within backend and microservices technology environments
- Contribute to large-scale system design and architecture strategies for cloud-native applications
- Design, code, test, debug, and document applications, including upgrades and deployments
- Build and maintain Java Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs in distributed environments
- Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka, including producers and consumers
- Review and resolve moderately complex technical challenges requiring evaluation of technologies and processes
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to resolve issues and meet business needs
- Lead projects, act as an escalation point, and provide guidance to junior engineers
- Deploy and manage applications in containerized platforms such as OpenShift/Kubernetes
Required Qualifications: - 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
- Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot in production environments
- Experience working in microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Experience with SQL/RDBMS
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Experience with cloud-native development and containerization
Desired Qualifications: - Experience with Kafka or other messaging/event streaming
- Experience with OpenShift (OCP) or Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with MongoDB or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience designing event-driven and high-availability systems
- Exposure to UI technologies (Angular/React) is a plus but not required
